OpSource Names Mark Spagnolo Chairman of the Board of Directors
Spagnolo Brings Strong Operational Expertise and Demonstrated Success in Building Global IT Infrastructure Management Companies
SANTA CLARA, Calif., -- July 28, 2003 OpSource, Inc., an IT infrastructure services company, announced Mark F. Spagnolo, CEO of Broadwing Communications LLC, has been named Chairman of the Board of Directors. A current member of OpSource's board, Mr. Spagnolo will immediately assume the responsibilities of chairman.

Mr. Spagnolo is currently the CEO of Broadwing Communications LLC, an Austin-based data and telecommunications services company. An infrastructure and technology services management veteran, he has held senior and executive management positions for start-ups and Fortune 500 companies, including President of the Infotainment strategic business unit of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and CEO and President of UUNET. At UUNET, Mr. Spagnolo significantly increased revenue and profitability while expanding operations into 29 countries.
Following UUNET, Mr. Spagnolo was the CEO and Chairman of SiteSmith, a managed services company that delivered outsourced Internet services to the Global 1000. In 2001, SiteSmith was acquired by Metromedia Fiber Networks (MFN) for $1.4 billion. He was subsequently named President and CEO of MFN. Mr. Spagnolo restructured MFN from three separate entities into a unified company resulting in substantial cost reductions, enhanced customer satisfaction, and increased revenue. In 2002 he founded The Spagnolo Group, LP, a telecommunications consulting firm, under whose auspices he served on the board of Universal Access and as Interim CEO for Flag Telecom, assisting with that company's restructuring upon its emergence from bankruptcy.
