 A NSW Government department will be the anchor tenant for a new cloud based service that Sydney based ac3 is now offering. Peep under the covers though and much of the technology is being provided by Dimension Data as part of its new suite of cloud computer offerings which was officially released today.

 At last week’s UBM TechWeb Cloud Connect conference in California, attendees found a wave of insight, product releases and demos of soon-to-be-released technologies for all parts of the cloud design-test-deploy-manage lifecycle. IDN takes a quick virtual tour of some of the highlights.

 Dimension Data on Thursday is launching a public cloud offering that it says will compete with Amazon Web Services and Rackspace Hosting, among others.

 South Africa–based systems integrator Dimension Data is launching a mashup of its IT services and the cloudy infrastructure it acquired last year along with OpSource, in a new offering it calls Cloud Solutions.

 Dimension Data took a giant step into the cloud Thursday, announcing a suite of services designed to create public, private and hybrid computing clouds for businesses. 

 Just about everybody would agree that cloud computing is an IT journey, it’s just no one is quite sure where that journey will take them. The lack of visibility has a lot of IT organizations opting to take a few baby steps towards cloud computing in 2012 versus rushing to implement a complete end-to-end strategy.

 Some European and fast-growing developing countries such as Brazil and China fear the U.S. will run away with the emerging cloud computing market. As a result, they have erected barriers to data moving across their boundaries and impeded the development of a global cloud market, said a large software business group on Wednesday.   

 Your humble correspondent has a confession to make: It’s been a long time since I’ve had this much trouble finding something to say about the cloud services market. The reason is obvious: Every vendor, from giants such as HP to startups such as ActiveState, are using next week’s Cloud Connect conference — which I’ve mentioned before — as the platform for new product releases, momentum statements, version updates, partner strategy realignments and more.
